Casual clothing came about in the 1980's as hooligans returned from their trips to Europe following West Ham, Nottingham Forest and especially Liverpool. Hooligans came back to the country wearing expensive designer clothing often stolen from European designer stores. In the beginning most hooligans were wearing these labels to avoid the police; it was also useful for getting into pubs. At this time the police were still looking for the skinhead look with Doc Martins so they did not notice the very same hooligan’s wearing expensive designer clothes.
